There are a number of events featuring Elvira in the Philadelphia area on Halloween:

Poe House

At 5:30 PM, Elvira will start her startling spooky tour of Philly. She'll begin at the former home of Edgar Allan Poe, located in Northern Liberties. While she's there, she will be reading the original Poe horror story/poem, The Raven. The event will last until approximately 7:00 PM.

Eastern State Penitentiary

At 7:30 PM, Elvira will be making a visit to the Eastern State Penitentiary. This is the most historic prison in the United states. She will visit with guests at the famous Terror Behind The Walls, Eastern State's famous haunted house.

The Halloween Bash

Elvira will finish up the night in Philadelphia at the Park Hyatt at the Bellevue. She will appear at the Haunted Halloween Bash. Tickets for the Bash are $75 for VIP tickets and $30 for general admission.

The Nation's Oldest Thanksgiving Day Parade

When you think about driving your Nissan to watch a Thanksgiving Day Parade, you probably think about Macy's Thanksgiving day parade with its large balloons and amazing spectacle. While that's certainly a sight to see, you might also consider staying nearby, right here in Philadelphia, to watch the ABC/Boscov Thanksgiving Day parade this year.

The Philadelphia Thanksgiving Parade dates back to 1910. This parade is nearly 100 years old. It is also the oldest Thanksgiving Day parade in the entire nation.

This parade announces the arrival of the holiday season with marching bands, dance teams, musical guests, and beautifully-designed floats.

20th and Market Street is where the parade begins. It winds along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Along the way, the parade passes past the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The Parade features Sesame Street and Disney characters in floats, as well as Giant balloons. And, of course, Santa Claus makes an appearance, ushering int he holiday season.

There is even a Campbell's Winter Wonderland Expo tent where you can get some hot cocoa, and find special giveaways.

The U.S. Sports Film Festival in Philadelphia

One of the most exciting things you can do in your Nissan in Philadelphia is take in a professional sports game. No matter what your favorite sport, Philly has plenty to offer.

For the first time ever, Philadelphia also offers sports fans and movie buffs alike a great opportunity to get together: The U.S. Sports Film Festival.

The first annual U.S. Sports Film festival will take place October 23-26, 2008. In addition to showing a number of sports-themed movies, the event will have several special activities, from a 5K run to a sports memorabilia auction.

This year, the festival will honor eight-time Emmy winner Bud Greenspan, as well as Vince Papale, who was the inspiration for the movie Invincible.

Some of the greatest and best-loves sports films will be featured this year. These include films such as Miracle, The Natural, and Invincible.

Some lesser-known sports films will be shown, as well. One of the featured films is Kassim, The Dream. This film tells the story of Kassim Ouma, who escaped the oppression of the Ugandan army through boxing, and how boxing led to his freedom.

Powhatan Indian Museum

The Powhatan Indians lease a portion of Rancocas State Park. They have constructed a replica of an Indian village from the 15th century at the park. Every year, there is an annual Powhatan Indian festival, which includes performances, music, and traditional crafts. This is called the Juried American Indian Arts Festival. Rancocas Nature Center

The New Jersey Audubon Society manages this feature of the Rancocas State Park. The center has a number of different programs throughout the year, featuring wildlife programs as well as nature walks. There are a number of self-guided nature trails maintained by the Nature Center, taking hikers and bird watchers through wetlands, woods and even meadows. There is a book and gift store, a classroom that’s available for parties and presentations. The Center also features Summertime day camps.

Rancocas Nature Center Museum

One feature of the Rancocas Nature Center that you just can’t miss is the museum. The museum includes a variety of live native reptiles, an area where you can view wildlife, a host of educational materials, and even a touch table. Things to Do in Atlantic City: Bodies...The Exhibition

What good is a shiny and new Nissan car if you don’t have anywhere to take it? If you’re looking for a getaway from the everyday this summer, think about heading down to the Trump Taj Mahal to get out of the heat and into something interesting. While the Trump Taj Mahal is generally known for its nightlife, they’ve got exciting new things going on for every member of the family.

Bodies... the Exhibition is a groundbreaking exhibit showing the miraculous make up of the human body. It’s showing at the Xanadu Theater from May until August 22nd, and it’s open from 10 in the morning until 10 at night, seven days a week.

Science geeks of all ages will be fascinated by this presentation of real specimens of the whole human body and each individual organ. You’ll get the chance to see exactly what goes on inside that miraculous body of yours and figure out how the whole thing works.

The Bodies exhibition has been able to sensitively present these real specimens by using a method of preservation using polymer. You can just take a wander around or rent headsets that take you through an audio tour, explaining each part of the exhibit.

The perfect mini excursion for the curious members of the family, Bodies... The Exhibition is a great educational tool for families, school groups, clubs, children’s groups and summer camps. If nothing else, it’s air conditioned, but so is your new Nissan car.

Drive Your Nissan to the Brandywine Zoo

Looking for something to do this summer near South Jersey in your New Nissan Car? Come on down to the Zoo in Brandywine Park, located in Wilmington over the Van Buren Street Bridge on the north bank of the Brandywine River. There are around 150 animals on nearly 13 acres, just waiting for your visit.

In addition to animals from tigers to snakes, the Brandywine Zoo offers a snack bar and a gift shop. The snack bar, located on the grounds of the zoo, offers a diverse selection, including soft pretzels, popcorn, ice cream, hot dogs, soda, juice and much more. The gift shop, known as the "Zootique" is open every day from 10 am to 4 PM. The Zootique has many different animal-related items and unique toys.

A member of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association, the Brandywine Zoo is one of 214 accredited aquariums and zoos in North America. This membership demonstrates the Brandywine Zoo’s commitment to animal care, excellence in visitor experience and a better future for every living thing.

Managed by the Division of Parks and Recreation, the Brandywine Zoo also enjoys the support of the Deleware Zoological Society.

The Brandywine Zoo began as an idea of Dr. James H. Morgan, in 1904. Morgan donated a variety of animals to the zoo, and the Board of Park Commissioners agreed to install shelters and fences in the park to house the animals. The original collection included Belgain hares, a sea gull, a sea turtle, geese, and ducks.

Over the years, Brandywine Zoo has seen many different animals. In the 1920s, the zoo was home to eleven elk, five moneys, several goats, two eagles, two black bear, three buffalo, two raccoons, three alligators, and a single groundhog.

Struggling for some time during the middle years of the 20th century, the zoo fell into disrepair. A children’s zoo was built during that time, and by the 1970s the old zoo had closed and the children’s zoo had taken over the role of the main zoo.

In the 1980s, the zoo attained new accreditation and put a new master plan into action. This has led to the success and stability that Brandywine Zoo has enjoyed since that time.

Old Swedes Church in Wilmington

While you're traveling this summer in your Fuel-Efficient Nissan Car with the family, why not make a stop at 606 Church Street in Wilmington. Here you'll find Holy Trinity (Old Swedes) Church. This church is a national historic landmark, and has been in service since 1689. Old Swedes Church is the oldest church building still standing in the nation, as it was originally built.

Old Swedes Church was originally founded as a Swedish Lutheran church. It was brought under the jurisdiction of the Protestant Episcopal church after the American Revolution, in 1791. Old Swedes Church was used by a number of immigrant communities, including:

• The Dutch from the New Amstel (now New Castle) Delaware area
• The Swedes from Fort Christina and the New Sweden Colony
• The English in New Castle county of the Pennsylvania colony, and
• Americans from many national origins all over the state of Delaware.
  

The interior of Old Swedes Church features a number of interesting artifacts, including:

• The black walnut pulpit, which is the oldest known pulpit in the United States.
• The pews, which were rebuilt in 1899 as reproductions of the very earliest pews in Old Swedes Church. They were built from descriptions contained in early records of the church. 
• The chandelier is an 18th-century candelabrum made of brass, and was originally installed in an abbey church in Ireleand. It was installed at Old Swedes in the 1960s. 
• The church chest, used to store important documents, cash and valuables, was built in 1713. The chest requires two different keys to open. The original key to the church is on display in a framed box.
• The Pipe organ, which has 16 stops and 16 ranks of pipes, has a total of 913 pipes.
• There are graves under the church walls, including several early pastors and several children.
  

The church cemetery is still in use today, and has sustained more than 15,000 burials.

If you're in the Wilmington area, be sure to check out Old Swedes Church. You can have a guided tour Wednesday through Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. If you're bringing a larger group, it is best to call the reservation line. Cost for the tour is just $2.00. If you bring a large group in a bus, the entire bus  can tour the church for $75.

Rainy Day Fun in South Jersey

When it’s raining outside and the kids are restless, there’s still plenty of fun to be had in the South Jersey area. Pack the kids in the Nissan and discover the exciting indoor activities to do in South Jersey.

Garden State Discovery Museum

If your kids had the chance to dream up the perfect place to play, they’d probably come up with something close to the Garden State Discovery Museum. Little ones can dress up as a farmer, a newspaper reporter, an Egyptian king, a farmer and everything in between, and there’s nothing they’re not allowed to touch. This is a fantasy land where your kids’ imaginations can run wild and your little ones will want to come back again and again. The only adult complaint here is that there was nothing like this around when they were kids.

Nature and history trips

Operated by the New Jersey Audubon Society, the Rancocas Nature Center and Museum is the place to go to get up close to the area’s creepy crawlies. Inside you can check out the nature exhibits, but if you bring an umbrella you can take the self-guided trail through the native wildlife in this bird watching mecca.

If the kids aren’t into birds, they’re probably into dinosaurs and space. Try a trip to the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton full of artifacts and fossils that date back to the Cretaceous period -- this stuff is millions of years old. After cruising through dinosaurs and fossils, check out the museum’s newly renovated Planetarium and see the stars.

Burlington County Prison

For the lovers of all things spooky, take a trip to the Burlington County Prison. Built in 1807, the prison - complete with a top floor dungeon put there to prevent escape - hasn’t really changed. Visit the old cells with individual fireplaces for heat, see the scaffolding still in the prison yard that used to be in the prison yard, or hang out with the ghost of Joseph Clough. Legend has it that Clough, after being sentenced to death for murder, occasionally stops by to haunt the visitors and staff. For extra effect, the new restoration includes prison life sound effects to make it feel like you were really there.
